What is sleeping?
Sleeping means body will stop its activity, most feeling closed, muscle weakness, unsocial reclusive, the reduction of metabolism, it can ensure body’s basic vital activity under the least energy consumption. It is a reversal state, it can immediately complete transition between sleeping and wake, it is very different for the state of hocus and sleeping.
Scientific information shows sleeping is not only the stop of active, but also it can keep the best state. Sleeping plays a vital role in studying and searching spirit.
Why people need sleep?
Human need 1/3 time of their life to sleep. The reason that people must sleep is that cerebra need to relax and maintain some most important neuron group in deep sleep. There are 10 billions nerve cells in human cerebra which transfer messages to all the body corners, unused nerve cell will atrophy and even die. The animals experiment also proved that white rat will die one after another if they don’t sleep for several weeks, but their apparatus haven’t been found any obvious damage, just because they lack sleep serious lead to the immune function break down, and can’t resist the bacterial affect, and then it die. Also, some study & testing show that a person whose sleep less 4 hours will catch a disease more easier than those whose sleep time reach 7-8 hours, even die. And if a person who don’t sleep in 72 hours continuingly will be in deranged mentally.
According the EEG and other body’s change judged, a normal person when he sleep, first enter the NREMS, there are four stages: when people have just gone to sleep, he or she is easy to wake, and can listen the around voice, this is just the first stage; Then the secondly, it’s called Light Sleep (about 30-40 minutes), this stage is the longest, it’s composed 50% of the whole sleep time; The third and the fourth stage are the Deep-Sleep, during these two stages people sleep soundly, and have no consciousness. The NREMS pass about 70-90 minutes, will enter another different quality sleeping, there is a rapid circular movement of the eyes, it’s called REMS, from fall asleep to the REMS as the first cycle, and then from light sleep to the deep-sleep until the REMS are over as the second cycle, in this way, during the sleeping time people will go 4-5 alternations of sleep cycle, the best time to recover the organism is the second and the third cycle. The first REMS only keep 5-10 minutes, the last REMS (before you wake) can keep 30-40 minutes.
How much time do we need in sleeping?
Most of people trust they need 7-8 hours sleeping everyday, but it is not necessary. Time of sleeping is different according to different age, different people. Up to now , any researching report don’t show how much sleeping time is suitable for all human.
Specialists found people who have enough sleeping time is not outgoing.
The necessary is you should keep deep sleeping at least 30 minutes. The sleeping time for common people should be 6-8 hours.
How to get a good sleeping
Keeping reasonable sleeping attitude
What kind of sleep pose will you do? Don’t put your hands on your chest in order to avoid pressing hear lungs and disturbing the breathe. And lie on one’s back or lie on one’s stomach is not the most logical sleep pose, the best sleep pose is lie on one’s right side and the body to be a slight curving, because in this way can make you whole body relax. Giving yourself enough sleeping time
Everyone has own sleep time although most of the adult’s sleeping time about 8 hours, but a good quality sleep is not decided by how long, but whether have deep sleep. If fall in to sleep quick and keep deep sleep reasonable, you even just need 5-6 hours sleeping.
Arranging reasonable sleeping circumstance
A good circumstance of sleep should be in quiet, obscure, comfortable, fresh air etc., the temperature of the room should be 21-24℃. For better, you should turn off your mobile phone and other related electric appliance as electromagnetism is not good for health.

History of sleeping research
1834 Robert Mac Nish published the book named 《scientific of sleeping》.
1836 Dickens described a super fat boy who is addicted to sleep, big snore with right heart prostrated.
1875 Proved the changes in animals brain of power rhythm when sleeping.
1880 Jean Baptiste Edouard Gelineau described the paroxysmic sleeping disease.
1916 Rechard Henneberg described the paroxyxmic cataplexy & muscle weakness due to emotion changing.
1920 Physiologists of Chicago university did a research to prove the effect to morrow activity if short of sleep.
1939 Kleitman first published a monography to ascertain the sleep and wake.

1960 Gerald Vogel explained people cataplexy because of restrained formal REM sleep.
1965 Burwell reported a fat boy who is addicted to sleep with right heart prostrated and that was named “Pickwich Syndrome”.
1967 Henri Gastaut & Elio Lugaresl appeared 《Human’s Abnormality Sleep》, involving sleeping pathology knowledge.
1970 American Sleeping Association was founded.
1973 Guilleminault put forward and assort the Sleep Apnea-hypopnea Syndrome.
1975 SLEEP magazine started to publish. A narcolepsy colloquia was holden in Languedoc, France, Narcolepsy Association founded.
1979 The first publication of the book,《Sleep Medical Theory & Practice》
1990 USA Sleep Foundation and its Internet Website established, more and more people and can learn more about sleep knowledge.
1994 CSRS(China Sleep Research Seminar) & ASRS held the first International Symposium on “SLEEP MECHANISM”.
1996 CSRS members were get their Member Card during The Second China Sleep Mechanism Symposium hold in Beijing.
2002 OSAHS Special Symposium was held in Hangzhou, the UPPP, Standard of diagnoses & curative effect of OSAHS was established.
2004 The Third China Sleep Mechanism Symposium was held in Chengdu, China.
